At the hardware store you can buy narrow strips of wood (and sometimes metal) designed to "jump the gap" between tile and carpet. Generally, they have to be screwed into the subfloor. The strips are pretty plain and are designed to be unobtrusive, although you can stain the raw wood ones to match your cabinetry or furniture.

The easiest way to transition from tile to carpet is with a transition strip. The strip is a piece of shaped wood that laies flat as it joins the two surfaces together. They are found at any hardware store.

You could either use a brass strip which are available and will conceal the join between the two flooring materials, alternatively a wooden saddle board can be fitted over the tiles, and the carpet fitted up to its edge.
