Definitely a serrano pepper. There is a unit of measurement to determine the "hotness" of different spices. It's called the Scoville measurement. A jalapeno peppers can measures anywhere from 2,000 to 10,000 Scoville units. A serrano pepper measures anywhere from 10,000 to 23,000 Scoville units.

Although jalapeno peppers have the reputation of being one hot little number, serrano peppers are just a tad hotter. In this case, pick the one that you think tastes better!

Serrano. Serrano measures 25,000 on the Scoville Heat Scale, whereas jalapenos get a measly 5,000.

The serano pepper is hotter than the jalapeno pepper. You can check online for lists of all pepper strengths. There are some just too hot to eat.
