What's a good nine-patch quilt pattern?

Two favorites are Trip Around the World or Irish Chain. Trip around the world starts with a square in the center. Then add squares (around) the center block. Continue adding more blocks around those. You can make the quilt as large as you want. The Irish Chain is laid out in a diagonal design. There are many good quilting books.

The great thing about the nine patch quilt is you can make the patch any size you want. Think of some theme. I just did one with all outdoor patterns, and a pastel border. You need to decide if its for a man or woman and collect material. I always use 100% cotton and prewash all.
