One of the best gifts to give her would be one of the purchsed journals that has question prompts for you to answer about your life. Take your time and answer candidly - yes/no questions should be elaborated on. Do this and you will have given her an heirloom gift.

Not knowing how old the daughter is, I would prefer something lasting, such as a really good gold bracelet. It could be inscribed appropriately and dated, reminding her of the connection and the affection of the parent. Make it simple and handsome (at least 14 caret).
