What would be a typical glucosamine dosage for dogs?

I'm wondering if I heard my veterinarian correctly.

Typically, the dosage of glucosamine for dogs is 10 mg per pound, per day. If your dog weighs 80 pounds, the dosage would be 800 mg per day. However, your veterinarian may suggest to double up on that dosage for the first few weeks to assist in the initial healing process.

The dosage is going to vary from dog to dog. Dosages are calculated by the size and weight of an animal. I would not try to remember what my veterinarian said or speculate. I would call my veterinarian and get the correct dosage so the glucosamine is effective for your dog.

Dosage is determined by weight. If you are afraid that you heard the wrong numbers call your vet and verify. over medicating can be dangerous.

This can vary for many different reasons and there is no typical dosage for dogs. It usually depends on the breed, size, and how much your dog may weigh. If you are unsure you should call your vet and ask these questions, they understand that sometimes you may not be paying attention. You are worried about your dog's health.

The dosage amount is determined by the weight of your dog and the severity of the problem. Sometimes, you may begin with a high dose and then decrease it later.
