What would be a good intro letter for teachers to send to their student's parents?

Dear Parents of (Insert Child's Name Here): I would like to introduce myself as, (your name). I am your child's (specify) teacher for this (specify year/term). This academic year will be challenging for your child and I am trying to keep you, as a parent, inovlved in their scholastic careers. Please if at anytime you have a question contact me.

The letter should obviously include your name and contact information. But, you should politely state your preferred method of contact: by phone, by school email, by personal email, etc. Also, you should include a list of student / classroom expectations. You might want to include a list of supplies that you would like donated for the class as well.

Include information about your educational background and teaching experience. Describe what your favorite things are about teaching or share a touching teaching experience. Include your contact information and express your willingness to meet with parents to discuss their concerns. Share some of the curriculum you've planned for the coming year.
