One of the best speeches that I have heard in order to pump up a team was when a coach repeated a dream that he allegedly had picturing the team winning. This was highly effective because it caused the team to envision winning and mentally work through what they would need to do to win.
Tell them to leave everything out on the field. Let them know that once the game is over, they should walk off exhausted because they used all of their efforts.
Some words that you can say to pump up a team include; lets go, whoo, yeah baby, boom, win, dominate, power, never give up, step it up, victory, kill them, terminate, eradicate
Actions speak louder than words. Standing up there and talking is only going to pump up the guys that were pumped from the start. Ask every one for song. Also you could go around and ask each guy a different question like, Hey Glen, how hungry for the puck are you right now? etc.
I would recommend saying things like the way you play the game, is the way you will be viewed in life (i. e. a winner or a loser, quitter or a fighter, etc. ). Remind them how important it is to play hard, never quit on yourselves, coaches and your teammates.
