Sit up. Laying down allows your sinuses to drain more easily. Try drinking a clear soda or some peppermint tea. Also, eating saltine crackers may be a good idea. The salt will help absorb some of the drainage. If this doesn't help, try an over the counter medicine such as dramamine or kaopectate.

Laying down promotes sinus drainage into the stomach which can cause nausea. By sitting up, you can help prevent this nausea. Try propping your head under more pillows at night.

There are many things you can do to soothe nausea from sinus drainage. Some of my personal favorites are sucking on a peppermint just make sure it does have peppermint oil in it, it will say so on the bag. You can also drink hot teas with peppermint in them. Drinking any white soda helps too, sprite or ginger ale.

My pharmacist told me about the calming effects of meclizine. Dramamine contains meclizine which is the anti-nausea component of the product. This should be available over-the-counter at most drug stores. If they don't have this then I buy dramamine. I carry it with me always and it does help.

I found that learning to not sleep on my back helped alleviated the sinus drainage somewhat which caused the nausea to be less in the mornings. I have trained myself to sleep on either side and seldom role to my back anymore.

At night try to sleep on your side or stomach that way the mucus wont travel down your throat. Go to your local pharmacy and ask the pharmacist for and oldie but goodie cure for nausea Cola Syrup this will help your stomach to stay calm until you are over the drainage.

Oh! and aside from Apple Cider Vinegar... simply putting food in your stomach should help! Try something mild like crackers. Crackers are great b/c they have salt on them which will help with the drainage in your throat.
