mandatory basics are the jack, the jack tool (to raise the jack), and a lugnut wrench. if you have wheel covers with special nuts, you need that tool also.

There are only two tools required to replace a spare tire. You are going to need a jack capable of safely lifting the vehicle and a tire iron of some sorts. Most vehicles come with both, but if you need a tire iron a four-way iron will give you the most bang for your buck.
