The best way to learn is to use excel. Create a spreadsheet using statistics from any website. Add calculations (e.g., Sum()) to create totals on columns. Then create a graph.

Use the Information guide provided with the program, learn about cells, columns and rows. By using simple math algorithms, you can learn how the cells interact fairly quickly. Play with as much of the features as possible, and learn about the tool bars and what they can do for you.

Just start typing Roll Number of 5 students. Their marks, Try to get the sum ,average, mean median, etc. You have to learn basic calculation, Rounding off numbers, Average. You can move to Insert -> Functions and see differnt types of function provided in Excel. Also Look for The help page that is provided by Microsoft to master Excel.

Find a website that will give you the syntax, and examples of commonly used excel functions (SUMPRODUCT, SUM, IF, etc). I would also recommend playing around with it. When you're not sure how to do something, there are several online resources that are very good at explaining exactly what you need to do, usually a quick google search helps.

Play around, experiment and explore. Consult the built in help of Excel. Search for the MrExcel video podcast which provides you with short examples almost every day and has a huge archive of lessons. If you want serious courses check out Lynda, a big video course company that has lessons on all sorts of programs including excel.

The best way of learning to use any software is by practice. Imagine a task and try to figure out how to do it. Have fun with Excel. There's a lot functions but you can only learn them by trying to use them in a real way.
