What steps are involved in troubleshooting smoke detectors?

Mine beep at random. All new batteries. Hard-wired. Driving me nuts.

One quick suggestion is to turn the switch off, then back on. That may resolve it. Otherwise, review the instructions that came with your smoke detector. It should be online under the brand and model number. The life span of a smoke detector is two to five years, so it may already need replacing.

Try turning the switch off and then back on. If that fails, look on line for the model. There may be tips. Smoke detectors should be replaced every 5-10 years

Smoke detectors should be replaced every ten years. Your problem could be related to having lint or dirt inside the detector. Use a soft brush to clean without opening detector.

I have that problem now and have in the past with others. You will need to replace your smoke detector with a new one. Smoke detectors, will have dates on them, and they like other things will go bad. So if battery is good, replace the smoke detector. I am.
