You should avoid putting any fertilizer on it for a few years. Add instead mulch or something like that, as it will release nutrients slower.

This tree can easily be damaged during storms, so care should be taken. Iron deficiency can be a problem. Plant away from house foundations; mature tree has strong, destructive roots!

Water the newly planted maple throughout the spring/summer. Do not fertilize the new plant,so as to establish it to the natural environment. After a month fertilize with some gentle fertilizers like Miracle Gro or natural fish fertilizer. To avoid yellowing of leaves use high-nitrogen/high-iron fertilizers.
