Is he going to basic traing or has he completed it? Say his name and rank if he has one, your name, the time, date, place, if gifts are being excepted, the dress and what type of event this is' such as sit down dinner, cook out, potluck, etc.

You Could List it as a going away party and then make the invitation army themed. You could phrase it as "Please Give Jimmy a Big Send Off To The Army" in the inside of the card.
