While trying to acheive a French country look, choose a color like eggshell, or antique white. Make sure to use a good quality, oil based paint in these light colors.

For a French country feel when painting your house, opt for soft pastel pallettes such as pale blues, yellows or pinks or simple magnolias or white, bring out the French theme with accessories of wrought metalwork and wicker baskets. For a kitchen adding rustic, textured tiles to the scheme and fabric such as linen will add to the theme.

To use soft warm colors, like warm yellows, soft blues and greens. Even some neutral tones of ivory or beige. If you have wood trim give it a natural look. Also consider using stucco or plaster on walls for that country feel and then painting. Think of nature when you pick your colors.

French country incorporates different colors and patterns that all have a cohesive look. You could do one room in a wash of 2 or 3 colors, then take one or 2 of them into the next room and add another color, and so on. I would choose reds and golds

You will need to "antique" the walls. A really good look would be a country white color, then antique it by either sanding areas of wood down that has antique white, or fake it w/light brown paint.
