What should I know about leveling a subfloor?

Latex floor leveler is the easiest and cheapest option you have to level it. It's a DIY process and quite rewarding.... unless you mess up somewhere and your subfloor gets even worse with your handiwork.

You gotta check if your subfloor is well-leveled right at the beginning. Discovering later that it has a tilt makes it so difficult to set it right. I've known places that have had to break and then rebuild the subfloors

At schoolm in our science class, we were taught to use a spirit level - a small thingamajig with a class tube and some liquid inside - to check if anything was horizontal. Guess you could use it on your subfloor too to see if it is level.

For concrete floors you will need a wet grinder for the high spots. The low areas will need a quick drying mixture to fill up. For wooden subfloors i suggest a hardwood flooring edger to sand down the high spots.

I heard a sander with the coarsest grit makes the job faster and easier.  add a comment
