Make sure your container has adequate drainage; this plant likes moist soil. Fertilize spring through fall, using half of recommended dose; products like Miracid are great. Do not fertilize when bonsai is blooming. Repotting is recommended every 1-2 years. Research information about wiring and pruning, depending on age of your plant. Partial shade to full sun is its favorite.

Bonsai can be a little difficult to grow but are rewarding if done properly. The two main factors people over look are the amount of water the plants get and the amount of nutrients they are receiving. Since these plants are dwarfed and have reduced root systems it is important that they get adequate water and nutrients.

Gardenia bonsai can get really big and they require a lot of care. They grow well in the winter months so it is more optimal to grow them then. Furthermore, you will have to water them often. This means water them two to three times a day. Also, use fertilizing soil.

All bonsai trees require extra care. The Gardenia bonsai needs a sunny window sill for a few hours a day, watered on a regular basis and feeding twice yearly.
