Make sure this is not a flight you "need" to catch. Helps to have status in the airline and have carryone luggage.

Stand by flights are always subject to availability of seats. This flights depend on the load of the flight to take of. If you have any emergency travel suggest not to travel in Stand by flights

Flying standby is always somewhat risky----especially during peak travel times. I have not problem trying to go standby on an earlier flight. But you takr a risk if you have to be at a certain location at a certain time. Also, luggage cant be missed place when you go standby.
