Looking for airport's own website is your best bet. There is section where you can see the arrivals which list planes that are bound to land at LAX. With huge airports such as LAX you should make sure you know which terminal is the flight arriving at.

a computer is the best tool to check flight arrivals. This is best done a day before the flight. It is also important to observe the boards at the airports.
