The most important thing you should know is that you must wash it in the hottest possible water to remove germs. Pre-treat with a stain remover spray.

If the fecal stain is on carpet, use a few drops of dishwashing detergent, one tablespoon of white vinegar and warm water on a clean white cloth. Blot the stain until the stain is absorbed. Repeat if needed. Remember to always use gloves.

You should definitely wear gloves good thick rubber gloves. You want to make sure you kill any germs in the affected are. It may look clean but sanitation is necessary.
