First I would pre-drill holes in the wood where the screws would go. They I would add Liquid Nails to the back of the wood and put in place then using concrete screws, screw the screws into place.
Wood and brick expand and contract at different rates depending on environmental conditions so your anchoring methods need to address this differential.
