car repairs

Question by  labinc02 (19)

What should I expect from my brake repair cost? I need to replace the front calipers in my Dodge Dakota.

Brakes are relatively cheap, and it should only take a qualified shop tech about an hour to do the calipers and pads. Depending on whether or not the rotors need replacing too, a good estimate would be between $225 and $500. If you do the work yourself, about $175-275.

For front calpiers aftermarket rebuilds will usually cost you between $75.00-$150.00 each. If you choose to go with dealer parts expect more. Add labor charges to install these parts.

It depends on what year the car is, but to replace calipers will run you about 60-100 dollars. You can get money off this price if you have the old cores- core charge is about 40-60 dollars depending on the place you go. You might try searching online for some good deals.

The calipers themselves tend to run $40 to $50 each, but if you decide to replace them yourself the parts store will probably charge you a "core charge" deposit until you return your old calipers to them for "proper" disposal. If you decide to take the car to a mechanic, plan on spending a bit more - $300 to $600.

Depending on year, the brake calipers will probably be $130 each. You probably want to replace pads ($30) and turn rotors too ($40). Probably $330 if you do it yourself.

Depends on where you go. A front set can be anything from $99 for the parts and labor all the way up to $200. It will also depend on whether or not you have a 4x4 Dakota or not. Go to Sears, they offer good warranties on their work.

A brake job usually costs around $200 to $300 depending on how much stuff has to be replaced. If you have to replace your calipers, then you more than likely need new rotors too. So the bill will probably be at least $250.00, maybe more if anything else needs to be replaced.

The price will really depend on what the shop charges for labor. Contact them for an accurate estimate. That way you have an idea of what it will cost. You should also call around to find out what other shops will charge for.
