What should I do if my treadle machine froze up?

Check if the belt needs replaced. Check if the pedal needs oiled. If it's still froze contact a professional. It's better to have it repaired right than risk ruining it.

Start by removing bobbin case and checking for any bits of thread that you can get out. Then, soak with penetrant and oil it. You can immerse in kerosene for up to a week. Press on or try to wiggle the "forks" while trying to turn the handwheel.

The machine would probably benefit from oiling, make sure you don't apply too much. Always cover the machine when in storage and keep in a cool environment.
