Idling too low? Check for dirty air filter. Interim procedure: shift into neutral whenever idling, this will bring RPMs up slightly. Misfiring? Check spark plugs, wires, and ignition system. Check for vacuum leak: have assistant holding idle speed up enough to prevent stalling, and lightly spray carb cleaner around vacuum hoses. If RPMs change noticably at one hose, replace it.
