Burning pain usually indicates inflammation and, in the hip, this can be arthritis or stress damage. Taking anti-inflamitants can help significantly, as can rest.

Try not walking on it if You don't have to. Call the doctor and have Him look at it and take x-rays to make sure it's not something serious. He will prescibe something for You to take to relieve this pain too. A heating pad may help some too. Try it, it can't hurt.

Heat and Cold works best for any exterior pain that produces a burning sensation. Icy Hot pads work great for such conditions. You might consider seeing your local doctor if you don't see quick results.

I suggest that you take pain killers such as, Ibuprofen, Advil, Aleve, Aspirin or Tylenol. Then I would rub some icy-hot on it to ease the burn. If these don't work I would highly advise you to go to the emergency room or the hospital or speak to your doctor about it.

Most often dull/burning pain in the hips is caused by hip bursitis. Rest and anti-inflammatory medications are the initial treatments. Steroid injections and bursa drainage are advanced bursitis treatments.
