What role should America's ideals play in its national security policy?

Ideals should help dictate actions - but not at the expense of their needs for survival. Feeding the world is nice - but not if your own citizens starve.

America's freedoms of expression are as valuable and important as our security. We must not compromise our freedoms in order to keep our citizens safe.
