Hernan Cortes is most famous for his march across Mexico, and conquering the Aztec empire. The first island he went to was Santa Domingo, also known as the Dominican Republic. He was there for seven years before participating in the conquest of Cuba for the Spanish.

Hernan Cortes explored many parts of what is now North, Central, and South america. He explored Florida, Mexico and parts of south america. He left a trail of destruction everywhere he went.

Cortez explored and conquered Mexico from the Aztecs. The Aztec religion was very fatalistic They had a prophecy that a fair skin man left them and said one day he would return and conquer them. When Cortez returned the Aztecs thought the prophecy was coming true, so even though they fought against him, the Aztecs assumed they would lose.
