There are about 315 different species of parrots found in the tropical climates. 50 percent of the 10,000 of all bird species are found in the Amazon basin and Indonesia.

It depends on the type of parrot. Amazon parrots are native to the rain forest, as the name implies. Macaws are also rain forest birds. African Grey parrots are native to the plains of Africa, and cockatoos and parakeets are native to Australia, not the rain forest.
