I believe the record for most wins at the all-star break in NBA history belongs to Michael Jordan's 1996 Chicago Bulls team. That season, they had accumulated 41 wins and only 5 losses by the midway point of the season and finished with a 72-10 record.

The Los Angeles Lakers have surged since the All star Break. All stars Kobe Bryant and pau Gasol have lead the Lakers to an impressive 17-1 record since the all star break. The once imminent first place of the spurs has been seriously threatened by the recent lakers dominance.
