In Guatemala, the Guatemalan Quetzal is the accepted currency. It is named after the national bird because feathers were originally used as currency.

The Quetzal is the name of it. In 2007 about 7.5 Quetzals was equal to one dollar, but that has probably changed by now.

Guatemalan Quetzal (code: GTQ). Quetzal is divided into 100 cents (called centavo in Spanish). 1 US dollar is 8 Quetzals.

In Guatemala the national currency is the QUETZAL. The Quetzal is divided in one-handerd equal parts denominated centavos. Only the Nacional Bank of Guatemala can assue bills and coins.
