Medicines are widely available in Mexico and some that are prescription only in the US can be bought over the counter in Mexico. If you do not feel comfortable shopping in a Mexican pharmacy, however, bring your usual prescriptions, a headache remedy and an anti-diarrheal or Pepto-bismol for "Montezuma's Revenge."

Take what you think you will need: aspirin/acetaminophen/ibuprofen; allergy meds, antacids, etc. Prescription drugs must be kept in the containers dispensed by the pharmacy.

A small kit that includes such staple natural medicines such as baking soda and willow bark tea could certainly come in useful.
