One or more of several classes of medications may be prescribed for epilepsy. Barbituates and benzodiazepines are two commonly prescribed classes of drugs. Phenobarbital is the most common barbituate prescribed. Lorazepam, midazolam, and clonazepam are commonly prescribed benzodiazepines. Other epilepsy drugs include valproate, phenytoin, gabapentin, primidone, topiramate, and tiagabene.

You would take anti-seizure medication. The only reason I know this is I have a cousin and my brother-in-law take it. I do know that sometimes you have to work to find the one that works for you.
