I think that nativity costumes should be made of a material that is interesting in color and not shiny or metallic. Cotton and burlap hand-dyed brightly would be the most comfortable for the wearer, and look the best. I don't think the nativity scene should be treated like a discotheque with players dressed in sequins and spandex.
