The Panasonic VDR-D200 DVD Camcorder has 30x Optical Zoom, with up to 1000x Digital Zoom. The key difference between optical and digital zoom is the quality of the image; optical zoom uses the actual lenses to increase the magnification of the images, which results in significantly higher quality; digital zoom uses computer-based logic to render the image as zoomed in.

The Panasonic D200 has both optical and digital zoom. The optical zoom can go up to 30x, the digital zoom can go up to 100x. The digital zoom decreases image quality but offers more zoom, but it's usually not worth it.
