Clay pots or durable plastic pots are best for outdoors, clay pots can break if knocked over but they look better. Plastic pots come in different colours which is good.

Terracotta pots are always a winner outdoors. They come in all sizes. Wood planters are good but you have to watch for termites and for them to stay looking nice you need to keep them painted or stained. Concrete and stone planters are good as are the fiberglass and resin planters.
