Eon Labs was created out of the legal problems faced by its predecessor, Vitarine Pharmaceuticals. Vitarine was a generic drug maker sued by price fixing in the 19990s, in 1991 the company went bankrupt. Its assets were sold and reorganized into Eon Labs, which was removed from the FDA Blacklist in 1994.

They had some hubbub about FDA approvals for a new drug they were designing. They had a new drug and their patent was in conflict with another existing patent. This was taken all the way to the Supreme Court in 2009. They had failed to administer a muscle drug to patients with the informed concent of the drug.
