What kind of gymnastics workout can I do at home?

I want to be in as good of a shape as gymnasts.

We all want to be in as good shape as gymnasts, but that can only happen if we spend the bulk of our day sculpting our bodies. Realistically, expect to get fairly fit (but not gymnast-fit) by using any decent gymnastics dvd and really sticking to an exercise regimen.

Gymnasts are some of the most athletic individuals and achieving their shape will be difficult at home. Running is a good idea to increase your endurance and to build long muscles. Sit-ups and pull-ups are probably the best bet for overall fitness. Other choices include weightlifting combined with a good cardio-workout.

Try and see if you can find info about Usher's workout. I saw a piece about him once that he was working out using only his own body weight and he could do it anywhere. So push-ups, sit-ups, pull-ups, leg lifts, etc. At one point he did a handstand against a wall and started doing push ups upside down. Cool.

Just remember to stretch as much as you can to improve your flexibility. Also, many different types of yoga would be very beneficial in becoming a gymnast. Pushups, pull-ups, sit-ups, and leg lifts are all exercises that will help you in becoming in as good of a shape as gymnasts.

Gymnast have excellent all around fitness and conditioning. Start with a good stretch then do a 40 minute cardio workout. Next you'll need to do a strength workout.
