If you are feeding wild ducks, shell corn is the best food. It's cheap and available at any feed store. Don't feed them bread, crackers, chips, etc. and NEVER feed them moldy bread products. These processed foods are known to cause birth defects, especially wing deformities in ducks and geese.

If you are asking about a duck in the wild, they are omnivores that primarily consume large amounts of aquatic plants and grasses, and add supplemental protein with worms, amphibians, and insects. The exact balance will depend on the species. For domestic ducks, there is a specific feed available.

Aside from processed duck food: corn, grains, certain grasses, aquatic plants, invertabrates and insects. Ducks eat an adaptive diet based on their migratory patterns.
