Ducks will not lay eggs until they are eight to eleven months old in age. In terms of the season, ducks normally lay between the months of March and June. Wild ducks will lay their eggs only in spots where they feel the eggs and the young ones when hatched will be safe.

Generally, ducks breed in the winter and then hatch their clutch in the spring. Eggs take around 25 days to incubate and will hatch around the 26th or 28th day.

Wild ducks lay eggs from late March through late June, depending on the weather and the climate in the area. Eggs take about 4 weeks to hatch.

In my experience, my ducks have always started laying around six or seven months. I have Rouens, Buff McCalls, and Mallards. They usually lay between 12 and 20 eggs for their clutch. They also breed all year. Maybe the southern climate is the reason for the differences.

Most ducks do not start laying eggs until they are between 9-11 months old. Depending on the breed they can lay year round. A duck will lay an egg a day until they have a clutch, between 8-15 eggs and then the mother will sit on them.
