What kind of a spider is black with white dots?

Without a picture it's hard to answer which spider. But if you are in North America it is probably the Daring Jumping Spider which is not poisonous. The Daring Jumping Spiders are fairly small, about 10-20 mm in size. These spider can jump 50 times their own body length.

In the United States, a common black spider with white dots is a jumping spider. These spiders have hairy bodies and are typically about the size of the nail on your little finger. They don't build webs. Instead, they hunt other insects and catch their prey by jumping on it. Jumping spiders are not poisonous to humans.

It is a Daring Jumping Spider. It gets its name because of its amazing leaping ability. The spiders are non-poisonous, but they do bite people when they are disturbed or feel threatened.
