What is the word origin of the nickname "Nana"?

"Nana" is the nickname of Mary Magdalene. So I think it's just a nickname for the name like Mary, there's no particular meaning. :)

"Nana" is the type of thing that babys say, similar to mama or papa... it's cute-sounding and in some families the name sticks and grandmother's get called "nana" even by their adult grandchildren. As an aside, "nana" in German is slang for "idiot. "

Nana may be a babytalk version of "grandma" (American Heritage Dictionary), but popularity among African Americans and Caribbean peoples suggests partial derivation from ancestral West African sources too: Twi nana "grandparent," Nzema nana "grandmother" (see Africanisms in the Gullah Dialect, Dictionary of Caribbean English Usage, Dictionary of Jamaican English).

Nana derives from the word banana where it is slang for being silly or what a silly thing or person.

The origin of the nickname "nana" is from Andhrapradesh they call the male childrens as a lovable name. Otherwise for their husband also they will call as like this lovably.
