What are the origins of the word moolah?

The origin of this word seems to be unknown, although it has been recorded in the American slang already in the 1920s. One plausible explanation links moolah to mules (Mula is mule in Spanish, pronounced Moolah), while mules are (were) important monetary equivalent in Latin America.

the word moolah comes from the Fijian word that means money. another is, it is derived from the Spanish word for money used by the tribes of Hawaii.
