Making the nick name something catchy and easy to recall will be your best bet for having it used frequently. Also, be sure to use it in really public areas at work or school, such as the break or lunch room. The real key however is coming up with something unique and funny!

It's a slow process because if people called you Henry for 30 years and now you want them to call you Hank, it may be hard to remember. That said, if you meet someone for the first time, tell them what your name is by using the nickname you prefer and eventually it will stick.

Start calling yourself by your nickname infront of everyone, like instead of saying "I like this flower" , say "Jee (example nickname) like this flower. It will certainly work. Tell your friends and family to call you by your nickname. Also start answering your letters and e-mails by the nickname You wanted to stick.

Use the nickname in everything you do--sign notes to others with the name, introduce yourself to new people with the name. You might want to get involved in a new project with new people who will automatically accept your nickname and will refer to it in front of the others, so they get used to it too.
