The standard rates for writing off mileage for 2009 are as following: For business miles, the deduction is $0. 55 per mile. Traveling for medical purposes will allow you a deduction of $0. 24 per mile. Lastly, traveling for charitable purposes will allow you a deduction of $0. 14 per mile.

The standard rate for mileage for 2009 was 55 cents per mile. If you choose to use the standard mileage rate remember you can't depreciate the vehicle too. Depreciation costs are included in the standard mileage. It is set for 50 cents for 2010.

For 2010, standard mileage rates are 50 cents per mile for business miles, 16.5 cents per mile for medical or moving purposes, 14 cents per mile for charitable organizations.

Thought the rate has varied in years past, for 2009, the standard mileage rate is 55 cents per mile. If you are doing charity work, the standard rate is 14 cents per mile. Commuting from home to job does not count. Also, the last job of the day to home does not count. Miles not included in the commute count.

The Standard Mileage rate for tax year 2009 is 55 cents per mile. The rate for 2010 is 50 cents per mile.
