The catholic church seems to frown on divorce. According to the catechism, divorce introduces disorder into society. In terms of children, they are taught to embrace them and avoid all forms of birth control. Remarriages are frowned upon if the prior marriage was performed through the Catholic church. The church can remarry if they annul the previous one.

Divorce is allowed, but remarriage is not, unless the first marriage is annulled or the first spouse dies. Neither annullment nor divorce affect the standing of children in the church.

The Catholic Church believes divorce can only take place where one of the parties is being abused or when the marriage took place, the person did not have full knowledge.
