The recommended daily allowance for Bioton is 300 mcg. The need to actually take Biotin is rare as most people already get plenty without taking a supplement. Taking more than your body needs is useless because it is water soluble and excess will just be flushed out of the body.

It depends on why your are taking it. It is not dangerous to take Biotin, even at high levels. Many people take it to help grow hair, or to curb male or female pattern baldness. 5000 is a number that many people take, but it is not necessarily dangerous to take more, although consulting with a doctor would be in-your-best-interest.

the usually quoted daily dose requirement is 300 mcg but biotin ( vitamin B7 or vitamin H ) deficiency is rare as adequate amounts are present in a healthy diet and are produced by bacteria in the human large gut. High doses do not seem to be toxic but probably are of no particular health benefit either.

Since lack of biotin in the body is rare, there is no identified Recommended Daily Allowance or Recommended Nutrient Intakes. Adults can take 30 to 100 mcg of biotin daily.
