P Payne offers 80% efficiency in their products like PG8M & PG8J. But their most efficient gas furnace is PG9M. It has a efficiency rating of 92.1%. Their model PG8DAA024050 has 80 % AFEU efficiency.Model PG9MAA060080 has 90 % efficiency. model py1ppa036080-c has 81% afeu and 82.1 steady state efficiency.

Judging from the numerous websites I visited, Payne is one of the top furnace companies and have consistently high ratings.

Most furnaces will have performance data pasted on the door of the furnace. This will be an AFUE rating. Generally in the last 20 years, the rating is about 80 percent, but some can be as high as 95 percent.
