Around 20 calories per ounce, on average, for white wine, slightly higher for red wine. Though it can be as high as 35 calories per ounce. Champagne usually comes in a little higher still. Not much different overall from grapes or grape juice. Ports and Sherrys have a considerably higher caloric count.

pure alcohol has about 7 calories per gram, there are 28 grams per ounce, therefore, an ounce of pure alcohol has 196 calories per ounce. however wine is generally 12% alcohol, so an ounce has about 23 calories. It's not the same as juice, its about twice as much.

That will vary according to the wine. Usually the more residual sugar in the wine that has not been converted to alcohol during the fermentation process will have more calories.

Calorie content varies with each wine, but generally averages to between 40-85 calories per glass. As a glass is 3.5 fl oz, the per ounce caloric content averages 10-25 calories.
