Wheat brought by the Spaniards grew well in Northern Mexico. Burritos, or mulas in Northern Mexico are a product of Spanish and Mexican cuisine. They are not considered Mexican cuisine.

Burritos originate from Northern Mexico. Flour tortillas were used to wrap up rice and beans to keep them warm. The typical American burrito is much larger and tends to contain more ingredients than the Mexican variety.

The burrito originated in Northern Mexico during the Mexican revolution around 1910-1920. A man selling these portable meals would travel to his village on his burro with them in baskets. Burrito, in Spanish means little donkey or burro. Its easy to see where this food gets its name and how it came about.

They originated in Mexico. The legend has it that a Mexican street vendor wanted to keep his products warm, so he wrapped the meat/veggies in a flour tortilla and people grew to love it.

The word burrito means "little burro" and the burrito is said to resemble either a burro's ear, or the packs that burros would carry.
