Comparing number of hits to number of hits, Underworld is probably more popular than Daft Punk. I suspect they come to mind now because they're back in the media with the new Tron:Legacy soundtrack. Acknowledgement must also be given to the Chemical Brothers. This is not a simple answer.

Daft Punk is in my opinion the most popular techno group of all time, innovating techno techniques and the whole arrays of music itself.

Daft Punk. People may argue they aren't the best techno group, but they are probably the most successful techno group in terms of financial wealth/records sold.

In my opnion it would be The Prodigy this band is from the UK but have a unique sound,This band has been going strong since the early nineties.
