Saving the most on energy cost depends on the situation. Generally a forced air system offers the highest effciency. Something like a Lennox G71 variable furnace is prefferable.

Gas is going to be the most cost effective way to heat your home. Even if it is 400 a month you can try electric and then you notice your gas bill is down but your electric went up.

I would say central heating and air. It does not cost a whole lot to run it and it does work very well. There is also natural gas. I perfer the natural gas because if the power goes out you still will have heat. Some people even use it for thier hot water heaters, heat, stoves, etc.

This would depend on the home and the area of the country. More efficient systems cannot be used in an area that is below 32 most of the winter. Heat Pumps are very economical for heating on moderately cool days. The key is getting the most efficient and economic backup heating systems to attach to your system.

That would have to be a fire place.Though not everyone has that.I would say a gas burning furnace is the best.

Natural gas is the most economical. It is also good for the environment and easy on the energy bills. You can expect to save atleast 40% in expenses so you will do good.

What we do here is we cut out tree and burn it in the fireplace, since a fire-log costs like 5 bucks nowadays.
